trick in getting this off?
this is my brothers truck. 65? anyway he cant get this off. is there a trick to it or is he just a puss?

that doesnt hold the wheel cyl on. But you will need a good impact if you want to get that off with no sweat. Or you can add a little heat to the back and some muscle to pry it loose.

not questioning your motives for removing it, iirc an impact will help a bunch.
i seem to recal there is a nut on the backside.maybe not. been awhile since i've been there. add some heat then, use an impact.

If you want to replace the wheel cyl you have to take the anchor pin off, for it holds the wheel cyl on. Get you a 3/4 inch drive socket set, it has a long handle ratchet.It will come right off, I just replace my wheel cyl on my 68 been on for 37 years came right off. If you don't have a 3/4 drive, or can't get one from a frind, you can get a loaner from AutoZone.

That thing has a sort of washer on it that is likely bent over on one of the faces of the bolt part. You have to bend that back to get it off. I just used a socket & a breaker bar to get mine off. The cylinder is attatched with two bolts that go in from the back of the plate on my truck on the rear. Can't remember if it's the same on the front,.

thanks for your responces. he said it needs to come off to get the wheel cylinder off. looks like he just needs some heat and leverage.

that does hold the wheel cylinder on! a socket & a looong handle will take care of it. You need to bend back the little tang that locks it in place, but i looks from the photo that that has already been done. I got mine off 2 summers ago with a long breakerbar.

Did mine around a month ago on my 68...the driver side took heat, pb blaster, and a big can of whoop a** to get it off. The passenger side took only a little force. Breaker bar didn't help me at all on the driver's side. Just stick with it and it will come off eventually.

I thought all the wheel cyls are held on by the two bolts in the back. What makes these diffrent the year or that they are in front?

Hey thanks for all the responces. But first off, I'm no puss, as a matter fact I got a lot of ass behind me, 6' 280. I'll make sure the washer is bent all the way back and try the heat and or the breaker bar. I've used the 3/4 drive, tried the hand held impact wrench. May need to switch to one with a aircompressor.

I had to use a pneumatic impact to get mine off the 68 last month. I'm 6' 3", 320 and I couldn't budge mine with a breaker bar and a cheater. Try the pneumatic impact, and good luck!

I got mine off with a 1/2" breaker bar.As far as the washer behind it good luck finding one,I looked high and low for those washers as I am doing a frame off restoration and really wanted it to be original.Any way,I ended up using a little loctite when I put it back together.
