Trailer stolen in Michigan!
My trailer has been stolen!
OK, mostly just a rant to purge here but I'll describe the trailer anyway and try to find a pic to post. Trailer was stolen near Martin, Michigan It is a custome built dual axled, solid flat bed trailer. The trailer has a beaver tail, and tilts. Equipped with electric brakes on the axles but were not hooked up. Painted a really ugly maroonish purple. The fenders are made out of diamond plate steel and painted to match the trailer. I had the trailer for sale, received numerous calls on it and discovered today that it was stolen. It was last seen ~1 week ago. If you live in Michigan and see someone suddely acquired an ugly maroon colored, dual axled, solid steel trailer please check it out. Some unique things to look for: The bed on mine had a tilt that was actuated by a crank at the back of the tongue in front of the bed. To engage the crank you had to use a ratchet wrench, an old socket is welded to the crank. The color is an ugly maroon, paint the builder of the trailer had left over. Trailer had one smashed tail plastic light, the trailer light wires hung fairly low from the trailer. The back of the trailer is beaver tailed and has a "pipe" on the back for the two ramps (which I still have) to attach to. Thanks for the chance to post here.... Chris

Seems to be unique enough that you, somebody you know, or the cops might be able to identify it. Good luck!

What the hell!! Whats this world coming to?
I saw your post and couldn't believe anyone would be so low. You can count on me to watch for it. I live close to the Galesburg speedway so maybe it will show up. When I saw it was in Michigan I went to the regional forum and saw your post to me and we're practically neighbors. You should post that truck of yours cause it looks really nice after the paint job. Where is that huge garage? PM me if you want or e-mail I'd sure like to see your ride.

VetteVet,
that huge garage you are refering to (I think) is a friends body shop, Amperican Auto Body on Crosstown in Kalamazoo. If you get to the tracks much you may know the owner Dennis. He races at Galesburg and Kalamazoo alot, blue car with white lettering #26. If you can keep an eye out for it that would be GREAT! It's an ugly maroon, almost purple. I'm looking to see if I have any pics anywhere of the trailer. So far haven't found any yet. :-( Here is the best description I can provide. The trailer has a flat deck made out of steel, dual axles equipped with electric brakes (but they weren't wired) each side has one box style fender made out of diamond plate steel and painted to match the trailer. It has a beaver tail with a pipe on the back of the trailer where the ramps could hang and slide wherever you needed them (I still have the ramps), the trailer tilts via a crank jack on the front of the bed at the back of the tongue, the crank has a socket welded on it where I would insert a breaker bar or socket wrench. My truck is in the building the trailer was parked next to, so I'm a bit worried about it now. thanks Chris

moneyguru,
You may want to keep this post to the top so that members who may be close by see it. One of us might get lucky and spot your trailer. TTT, Jim |

Sucks dude that's Martin, Michigan is down by Kalamazoo?
I live between Lansing and Flint and we have been having a ton of problems with a$$holes that are to lazy to get a job and are stealing things. In the rural area where I live they are doing it in the middle of the day! Anyway I travel a lot for my job all over Michigan, and I will keep a eye out, did it have a plate on it? number? Any pics would help.

Moneyguru: I'm not exactly near you but will keep a watchful eye out. The trailer sounds pretty distinctive. Sorry for your loss. Some people have no respect for others belongings. If they needed a trailer so bad they should get off their A$$E$ and earn enough to buy one!

thanks for the help. As an update I drove all around the area where the truck was stolen and talked to alot of people that lived in the area asking if they would mind keeping an eye out for my stolen trailer. Well over 50% of them knew my trailer and where it had been parked! They were all PISSED and are basicly putting together mini search parties to see if they can find it! Who knows I just might get lucky and get it back! Unfortunatley I haven't been able to find a single picture with the trailer in it. Chris PS thanks to everyone that has offered condolences as well as everyone that has promised to keep an eye out for it.

I understand your frustration because I also had an 18ft car trailer stolen. It was made even worse by the fact that all of my trailer 'tools' were in the toolbox mounted to the front of the trailer.
I spent $1700 for the trailer & had about $1500 in a winch, hold-downs, battery, solar charger, xtra leads for connecting to a second battery, 5 gal air tank, + the tool box itself. No, the insurance wouldn't reimburse for a trailer or the tools. This time around, I bought a slightly cheaper trailer & keep all my gear in oversize duffle bags. I mounted the winch brackets to the trailer floor & ran grade 8 'studs' through the floor & just attach the winch when it's needed. At least this way if it's stolen again, I'm not out that extra money for the 'tools'. I also search the local tracks every time I'm there because like you, my trailer had something unique to it that will one day possibly help me spot it in a crowd.

I would recommend posting this on at least the Midwest Regions forum and probably the forums for the other year models. The more eyes you have looking the better. I would imaging that if it was stolen and being driven around, the paint color would be the first thing to change.
