New Ball Joint - How much grease?
I just replaced my first balljoint ever on my '85 GMC 2wd half-ton. It says to grease it before driving, but never having done this before I don't know how much grease to put in. Is a couple of pumps on the grease gun good? Or do I fill it until it comes out the boot? Should I err on the side of over greasing it? Is too much grease bad? And I thought changing it would be the confusing part!

I usually grease them until it starts to ooze out of the boot. Better to have too much than not enough.

While putting grease into the balljoint, test the firmness of the boot with your finger. When it starts to feel as though there is some presure inside the boot, stop there.

I'm with Alan on this one.........I don't like to see the seal "violated" by fulling it to the bursting/oozing point.
