Finally got started back up on my 87! (UPDATE WITH PICS)
Well, tonight a buddy and I were bored so we decided to fire up the burner and start cooking on the 87 again. I had it almost to a running state, but then decided that I wasn't happy with the work I had done (did another project in between now and then, and have become much more anal) so it is getting tore back down and started over. This time the A/C, heat, radio, and factory wiring is gone and I am down to a bare bones dash and no wiring under the hood. Next will be the smoothing of the firewall, installation of a Painless harness to run my neccesities, and maybe a few chassis upgrades (possible rollcage upgrade and maybe a manual rack and pinion setup)
Basically I decided that since I just purchased an LS1 formula, I didn't need to try to build two cars to cruise. So the truck will be a little more on the primative side of things which will really give it a cleaner and more simple style and appearance I will take pics today yet (since it is 2:13 am) and post them up for ya guys

My MSD box is mounted on the inside of the fireall uner the dash, my PW/PL switches are moved from the door and into the factory center console, shifter is on the floor so I am using an auto floor shift tilt column, no A/C heater (its my summer cruiser anyhow), shaved firewall, etc... Good luck on your project, anxiously awaiting pics!

Are you geting rid of the whole dash, or just adding aftermarked gauges and all? Looks like you have it to a bare minimum, for sure.

Jonboy, the dash will look as it used to with autometer guages in it. My truck was origionally a fuel injected truck and there were wires EVERYWHERE... I am just simplifying it all with a painless harness this time around.
1974 GMC, at your request:
