Engine Exhaust Pipes for BB?
Getting rid of the headers and putting original style exhaust manifolds on the 454 BB in a '72 C-10. Who makes engine pipes that will bolt up to the original manifolds?
Also, the rest of the exhaust system is 3". Is there anyone who could make a set of 3" engine pipes that will bolt to the original exhaust manifolds? I am not worried about the rest of the exhaust system. It is just getting the correct bends to get from the engine compartment to under the truck. Thanks.

from what ive read/seen
if ya go TOO BIG from the engine to the mufflers ya loose HP/TQ. they said in the article i read that , PUT THE BEST SIZE FOR THE MOTOR before the muffler and you can put anything ya want after the muffler without consicenses. so unless your motors built to the hilt and needs to flow just use 2 1/4-2 1/2 to the muffler and your 3" out the back (after the muffler) |

The motor has just been rebuilt - 468, close to 500HP, roller rockers, gear drive, cam, etc. This is not your average smog 454. Some back pressure is good but 2 1/4" might be a little much!
It had 3" from headers back without any problems. Getting rid of the headers for heat and clearance issues. Despite all of that, the question remains where could I purchase engine pipes (prefereably with an H pipe)? These are the stock manifolds that would come on a 1968-72 BB. Even if I could get a set of 2 1/2" pipes made, it would be fine. Stock was 2 1/4", correct? I also own a '66 Satellite 440-6 Pack. There is a guy who made me a set of aluminum engine pipes in 2 1/2". All I gave him was the year and make of my car (1966 B-body) and the exhaust manifold #s and he made me a set up engine pipes with H pipe that bolted in perfectly on the first try. He only does Mopars though. I am wondering if there is anyone who does this for Chevy Trucks.

The factory pipes were 2.5 to the muffler then went to 2" tail pipes out of the muffler. I was able to find one side through maremont (OEM) type replacement, then used it to make the other side, then bought flowmaster BB series mufflers and exhaust pipe kit to make my tail pipes, sorry I don't have pics to share of the exhaust but the driver's side that moves around the oil filter has a couple of funny bends in it. Any other companies sell stock pre-bent engine pipes?

I checked with NAPA for my K10's oem 350 with Rams Horn manifolds. They had the stock exhaust system available by application. Expensive, but available by special order. NAPA claimed they could get the pass side crossover pipe and driver side down pipe to the muffler, as well as the orig tail pipe.
Just throwing that out there in case NAPA can also source oem BB exhaust pipes.
