Gas Tank Blues

Gents and Ladies; I need some guidance. I have done everything to remove the fuel tank from the 69 donor truck cept shove an M80 in it! I would much appreciate a step by step list of directions on how to accomplish this. Tanks much.....

They are pretty easy to remove. Obviouisly you'll want to pull the seat out. Then I removed all of the bolts at the bottom and top of the tank. Then I removed my vent line and the supply line. Then I sprayed the filler with some lube, and popped it out.

Is the tank stuck and you can't get it to move or are you having trouble maneuvering it out?

They sit on a tar cardboard like material and sometimes they will stick in place and you have to break them loose. Other than that it should come out easily.

The biggest problem is getting the filler neck thru the opening, its like trying to pull a square peg thru a round hole. I'm going to lube the heck outta it and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

You need to get the neck out without the hose on it, iirc.

if you're having trouble pulling the neck thru the grommet just take a utility knife and cut the grommet away

Its out, WD-40 and a quick tug and also the removal of the passenger seat belt.... talk about feeling like a metric nut in a box of sae wrenches..... I can even hear the 15 year old hollering "Dad, don't we have to pull the seat belts" LMBO
