The easiest way is run a wire from the positive post of the battery to the positive terminal on the coil (or the batt terminal of HEI). Cross out the switch terminal (the small one closest to the engine) and the battery terminal (the big one) on starter. The engine will run but to cut it off you have to disconnect the wire you hook up from the positive post on battery.

You can just unplug the plug from the switch. Then use one wire to jump the power to the run position. and a second to tap the power to the start. They are labeled on the plug but I dont remember which is which. I did this about a month ago to start my parts Blazer and drive it around the yard. Worked very well.

The red one is hot and the pink one feeds the gages and the ignition and the purple one is the starter solenoid wire. I find that cotter keys work well for jumping but don't let them touch a ground and be sure you have the vehicle in park or neutral. Go from red to pink then red to purple until it starts then just red to pink.

Unfortunately, you may want to use this thread as a warning to come up with some sort of kill switch, so someone doesn't do this to your vehicle!!
