There is a yellow wire with a metal electrical connector, that is attached on the same strand as my block temperature sensor (green with large black connector). Where is this yellow wire supposed to go? It has the same slide-on connector as what looks like an electric choke connector. But I can't see on my old quadrajet that it had a spot for a wire like this (my new carb does, but I am not sure this is the wire for it)

Feel like a moron asking this... I can take pics if needed.

It sounds like the wire for the starter solenoid which sends 12 volts to the ignition coil when the starter solonoid is activated. If you have an HEI distributor, the wire is not needed.

The yellow wire usually goes to the coil from the starter solenoid to provide full voltage to points when starting. After starting contact opens and coil gets reduced voltage through the resistor wire. I am not familiar with other yellow wires but there may be some.

Aaaah. And I do have HEI so that would explain why I have an extra wire. Thanks guys. Now I just need some help hooking up a wire to my electric choke on the carb.

I spliced in a wire from the hot wire to the HEI and ran it to the electric choke and it worked great.

I did the same hookup as Old Yeller 1965 on an electric choke about (4) years ago. Works great!
