np 205 question
just pulled the 205 transfer case out of my 79 k20 (by myself),and man are they bloody heavy,anyway ,is there only one seal that goes between the gear box and transfer?if so which way should it face.mine had the rear of the seal(open end where the spring is)facing towards the transfer case,is this correct?

Actually, I think there is supposed to be a double lip seal for that shaft (one lip facing each way).
I ran into the same problem with a seal that came in a gasket kit. I put the spring towards the transmission and have had no problems yet.

The seal was in correctly, and they weigh 156 lbs

thanks for that,put seals back in last night,speedy sleave on front yoke.wasn't enough room in housing to fit back to back seals,will build cradle tonight that will go onto trolley jack to lift transfer back into position.
