Im kickin around replacing my dash bezel. The chrome color is worn on the original. First question is can the old be restored, and if so how? Secondly if I decide to replace mine I want a new one. Is a repro any good? And is it worth doing?

repairing would cost more than replacement, it is a very easy job, and well worth the time money and effort.
I got mine at ricks pickup parts and it fits almost perfectly.

Most of the vendors carry the new ones, and it is an easy job. Take the time to clean up the guages, replace bulbs, etc., while you have everyting apart, there is no better time. And be careful with the lenses over the guages, it's easy to both scratch and rub off the indicator lines.

What LB said, and be careful what you use to clean them, as LB said it is VERY easy to "clean" off the lines on the lense.........Jerry

I agree. Throw a new one on and enjoy it! Like the other fella's said, while your at it, clean the lense CAREFULLY! The printing on the inside will come off easily(I took some off with just warm water). The outside of the lense will clean up nicely with some plastic polish. While you have it apart, clean the guage faces(carefully also) and repaint the needles on your guages. Also, now would be a good time to clean the chrome bezels for your lights & wipers, pull the column & paint if needed and repaint the lower column cover. Also, if your dash wasn't repainted when you redid the truck, compound and wax the dash while you have the cluster out. It will look like a new cluster when you are done. Well worth the couple of hours it takes to do it.

I don't know what kind of paint is on the speedo and gas gauge faces, but I doo know you can't get them wet, or the white wil start or come off an smear and then you have a mess. I ended up just using a dry cloth and dry q-tips on them, The gauges seem to have paint that you can get wet but just be careful.

If you were to lightly dust the guages, and wax or polish the outside of the lens, it'll come out much better.

Anyone supply a factory looking woodgrain bezel? The one I ended up with has a decal on a chromed bezel. The decal is peeling and looks like crap.
