So...where are you buying your air line fittings?

I have everything to do my bags except my fittings, so I need a lot of fittings.
I am running bags with single 1/2" ports, 1/2" valves, and my tank has 1/2" ports. So, I will need quite a few 1/2" fittings of various styles.
I will also need some 1/4" fittings for my gauges and shraeder valves.
What do you have?

What size line 3/8, 1/2 or 5/8?

I have a few 1/2" line fittings Ts and 90s I wont be using as well as a 50' roll of SD 1/2" line. I'll check on the 1/4" fittings as well, I got a box of about 60 assorted sizes and shapes.

Let me know what you need.

Well I was going to run 3/8" line (because that's what I have) but if you have 1/2" line maybe I will go with that.
What kind of fittings do you have? Compression?

I just went to the local Ace Hardware and they have brass compression fittings. Anyone tried something similar? My main concern would be the lack of DOT approval. I am sure no one would ever check them, but it does add peace of mind when you have the DOT fittings.

DO NOT ... I repeat DO NOT use compression fittings with DOT plastic tubing.

The ferrule will eventually cut thru the plastic tubing and it will either develop a leak over time or completely disengage from the fitting. Neither of which will be a fun ride if this happens while the truck is in motion.

Believe me when I say this ... I worked for Parker-Hannifin as a Process Engineer for almost 10 years ... the plant I worked at made compression style fittings (A-Lok & CPI fittings).

Sorry I'm doing CAD finals at the same time. They are all push lock fittings. I'll trade you the 1/2" line for the 3/8" if you want. I have a low quality pic of them somewhere.

I agree with Shane, Compression will blow, you want to use this type.

These are what I've got, let me know what shape "L" "T" butt connector etc. you need.

Ok, no compression fittings.
Push lock fittings are the way to go then??
Should I use metal or plastic? I would think metal would be preferred. Is brass best? I really don't know anything about these fittings.

Cool, like I said I'd be willing to trade out the line straight accross if you want, yours is DOT line right? I know I don't have enough fittings to do your whole setup, but I might be able to save you a few bucks. I asked the drop shop in Roseburg and they use the black plastic ones, the white plastic ones are for low pressure applications, they sell those at Lowes. The brass ones are superior, but are more expensive.

i use compression fittings all the time and have never had any leak or blown a line... i have used the push in style fittings of all sorts and they were all crap....leaks and blowing out i will continue to use compression fittings....

My line is DOT. I bought it from Suicide Doors. I didn't figure you would have enough fittings to do the whole set up, but whatever you have will get me started. I PM'd you with what I need to start.

Man I thought I had more 1/2" tube fittings than this but I can ship you (2) 1/2" tube "T" and (1) 1/2" butt connector. If you still want to trade line I can throw those in with the 1/2" line (no charge). I figure you can pay the shipping on the 3/8" line to me and I'll cover the shipping on the 1/2" line and fittings to you.

I prefer PTC's due to the ease if you have to replace anything but they are normaly triple the cost of the same compression fittings. I found a Freightliner dealer/repair place that has Parkers/Weatherheads for about half the price of the local fitting houses.

compression fittings can be dot approved, that’s all there was before the quick connects came about 5 years ago. All the air hoses on heavy trucks where used with compression fittings except for the front brake chamber and compressor to drier hose. You just have to have the CORRECT DOT compression fitting with the inner hose sleave so the compression fitting doesn’t collapse the hose. Parker makes some nice fittings. The compression fittings from a hardwhare store are ment for copper tubbing and will not work correctly on the plastic dot hose.

The push-in (quick connect) have a lot of problems and we remove them after they start to leak and go with the compression fittings. They were only made to make assembly easier for truck manufacturers IMO.
