'69 Sidemarkers w/o lights

Hello all, gotta question for you.

My '69 K5 had two broken side markers on it, so I picked up replacements from YearOne. The replacements had spots for bulbs in them, but the factory sidemarkers do not have any lighting in them, they were sealed off. I went ahead and installed them, and will find something soon to permanently seal them with, but my question is:

Who sells the sidemarkers without light sockets? I replaced the pair on the passenger side but I want to do the driver's side as well. I rather buy the right part than have to mod the parts I buy.

Thanks in advance.

Are you looking for the deluxe with chrome rings? (hard to find) or the standard?

My truck has the standard. Online I've checked GMCPauls, classicheartbeat, YearOne, and Manes. They all seem to sell the one with the socket.

I do not know who sells these without the sockets. However in the past on the trucks that I worked on, I would take the light socket from a parts truck and plug it in to seal the hole just to keep it clean. Also, when I was real ambitious I would wire them into the light harness so they were actually functional.

I don't think anyone sells them without the socket. At least not new. You could probably find a set of originals or NOS ones.

I have a '68 C10 with the standard side marker lenses that have no provision for lamp sockets. In '69, side markers should be functional lamps, I think. My '70 C10 has functional side marker lamps.

Maple, that is not acurate.
In 68 and 69, the lights were optional... in 70 they became standard.

The lenses are there, the wiring is not. There is no plug hole in the lenses at all in my '68, and also no option code for them shown on the glovebox sticker.
Maybe different from U.S. built to Oshawa, Ontario for later years. Any Canadian built '69's I have seen have functional sidemarker lamps.

Good point on your location (had no idea, you haven't filled out the info) the Canadian ones may well have been required to have the lights. But the US models didn't.
However, any 68 or 69 truck that was made with duals in back, was required to have the clearance lights on the roof, and marker lights...it was a manditory option that was required at additional cost over the option for the duals.
