a/c parts removal

ok my truck came stock with a/c but a previous owner removed the compressor. i was wondering what all i can take off of the firewall. i am wanting to clean the engine bay up but am not sure what i can remove without damaging the heating system.

Here's how I did mine. I cut the HUGE lump off of the firewall at the same depth as the heater motor & glassed it over & painted it with a mat black paint. The heater core & heater was kept factory. Sorry for the bad pic. I thought I had better ones but I cant find them right now...corn

cool idea, got any pics or info on the fiberglass procedure you used? looks great!

After I cut off the part I wanted gone, I laid a piece of cardboard over the hole & traced it. I cut the cardboard pattern out & stuck it in the hole & put a coat of fiberglass reinforced bondo (kitty hair)on the inside edges. Then proceeded to use fiberglass matting & resin on the outside followed up by a thin coat of bondo/glass over the top of it all. Dont sand it too smooth or the texture wont match the rest of the factory cover. Flat or matte black paint work best. Good luck with it, Im sure happy with mine. I just hope it holds up without cracking...corn (I attached a little better pic)

There's a company out of Colorado called "American Graffiti" and it makes firewall covers for A/C removals. I know covers for GM F-Bodies and a few other cars are available but I don't know about trucks; you'd have to inquire. American Graffiti sells on eBay so you can probably find some contact info there...good luck!

The hoses are still on the shelf. The heater core fittings are still right where GM put them. ..corn

:edit: Ah, now I see why you asked. They dont show up in the bottom pic but you can see them in the top one...
