96 Blazer Rims fit a 72 GMC 1500?

Need some help here: I have heard that the bolt pattern on my 71 GMC 1500 is 5 x 5. I am looking at some rims from a 1996 Blazer, they have 5 lugs: will they bolt on correctly? These rims also were put on a 1989 Jimmy, but several tire shops could not tell me if they will fit correctly on my 71 GMC.

I need some new shoes on my truck, please help asap!!

Measure from the outside edge of one bolt across to the third bolt centerline. It should measure 5" exactly to fit your 71 truck.

they were probably talking about the offset of the wheel? will it rub the inner fenders or tierods? I know the S-10 blazers and Jimmys will not work, even if they are 5 lugs... take one home and try it on...

Nope it will rub the control arm and plus you will have to have the center hole bored.

If I am not wrong the measurement for a 5x5 wheel is 4.76" center to center of any two lugs that are the farthest apart. Someone recently posted a drawing showing both the 5" and 4 3/4" bolt patterns. I have it at home and can post it later but hopefully somebody will beat me to it.

I have a 72 GMC C-1500 with 5X5 bolt pattern. I used the Rims from a 97 Chevy 350, and they fit perfect with no problems. I can post pic's later if you want.

For the first 3 months I drove my 69 GMC last fall I carried a newer style wheel and tire for a spare, thinking it would work. Well the truth was revealed one day about 2 miles from home when me, my wife and 5 yr old son had a flat. I tried to put the spare on (right rear) and the tire started touching the inner fender well before the lugs even got close to tightened. Lucky me that we were only 2 miles from home and I had to hitch a ride home and get her dad to take me back with another spare. I would check the backspacing as well as the bolt pattern to be safe.

Wheels from the 88-98 years trucks will vary on the fit. Some of the Aluminum wheels will not fit because of offset problems. I have a set of the SS chrome slots (15x7) and they fit the 71/72 5x5 just fine. The six lug wheels are normally the ones you will start running into problems with because of the offset and center hole.
