Tranny Question

I have a 1978 Chevy 3/4ton 4x4 with a Turbo 350 trans. The park pin is broke what type of job is it to fix and what is involved?

You mean the park pawl is broke? I've never seen one break but occasionally they do get worn off which in turn wears the ring gear teeth so they will not stay in park on an incline. I guess I've never tried to put one in while in the vehicle. The pin that holds it in can be accessed at the back of the case, there is a small cup plug holding it in and it is usually staked so you have to drill it a little bit first to knock those down, and then hopefully get the right size bit that will bite into the plug and pull it out. They are not to bad to do when on the bench but as I say I have never tried to do one in the vehicle.

I found the problem, the previous owner put lock out hubs on it without the parttime kit in the Transfercase. So when you unlock the hubs it rolls freely
