The engine should have a 5/8 fitting coming out of the intake, the hose would go to the 5/8 neck on the heater (probably the lower one if the heater core is not in upside down) then the remaining neck on the heater should be 3/4 which would run into the water pump or radiator with a 3/4 fitting.
