The 454 in my 72 has a short pump on it -Im using all the stock brackets and pullies that came with the 402 that came in the truck. I would guess you need to figure what pump your brackets are set for so the belts will line up. HTH::::CB

I'm running the long water pump its close but will work with a few mods to the fan housing. In case you don't know brackets and pulley's for short and long water pumps don't enter change.

Thumbs up

Yes if your going with an electric fan then you should have plently of room even with the long pump - I have looked at the GM performance serpentine belt conversion for my truck which uses a long pump and even keeping the flex fan I figured I have enough room. Am thinking that the difference between the long and short pump is like 1-1/2 " HTH:::::CB

With the Serpentine setup long pump reverse flow, you will have about 2 3/4" between the bolts on the water pump pulley and the radiator. To run a 16" flex fan you need a 1" spacer, I DON'T think a clutch type fan will fit with a serpentine setup.

I could not fit electric fans between the rad and serp. Even in front of the rad it was tight with the airconditioning condenser. I could only fit 12" fans up front. The 1" spacer for the flex fan was needed to clear the belt and pulley. Yo go with a bigger 17" or 18" flex you would have to go to 2" spacer and have a bugger of a time trying to bolt it on the water pump.
