1st time in removing a starter and i need a little help. Is there any special way in removing and istalling it. I only saw two bolts at the bottom, is that the only two that I must remove so i can take it down. please let me know.

i believe thats how it was on our camaro..2 bolts should be it...might need to move the exhaust around a bit.

Yes its the 2 bolts that go into the block. Then on the soloniod there is 3 wires bolted to it that you must remove to get the starter out. And just for good measure since you said this is your first time takeing a starter out, Be sure to disconnect the battery. If you don't youll see a spark show within 6" of your face

![]() ![]() Just a couple of other things... You may find it easier to disconnect the wires from the starter/solenoid terminal while the starter is mounted to the block, if you can get to them. You may also want to remove the bell housing cover to check the starter-to-flywheel clearance after you replace it. GM recommends 0.020 to 0.060. A standard paper clip works well as a gauge since it's about 0.035. Use shims if need be to obtain the proper clearance. It's not too bad of a job. Good luck.

when putting the new starter back in .. use a floor jack to hold the starter up while you align it .. its alittle easier on the arms ... torque the bolts to about 25 ft-lbs

it maybe a little to late but before you leave the parts store have them check your new starter i have put new out of the box starters on before and they were bad they did work but not real well good luck and be careful
