Need SWB frame or LWB Bed

Well I got my SWB frame stripped and found out the frame has a really bad bend between the front cross arm and front cab support. So my project has come to possibly a major turning point. Right now I am starting to strip my LWB parts truck down to the bare frame. The LWB has a good frame but the bed is shot I have a restorable SWB bed. So what I am looking for is either a good Bare SWB frame that is not that expensive or someone willing to trade a restorable LWB bed for a SWB bed. If I can not get either of these it looks like I will be chopping frames to make a SWB 2 wheel drive frame as I have stated in the message board section. The SWB bed has a steel floor but I would prefer a LWB bed that is meant for a wood floor.

Thanks for any help one way or the other.

Will it be a LWB or a SWB?

David, I still have that 70 chevy shortbed truck, but I haven't gotten around to parting it out yet. How big of a hurry are you in?

I might have a LWB bed to sell or trade I'll see if I can get you some pics later. Would you be interested in trading for the SWB bed. It is the bed in My avatar.

I got a lwb '67 frame in excellent shape. It is yours if you pull the bed. The cab is already loose. I want the motor and tranny. Come and get it...NO RUST!

Burnsman: How much did you want for it? Also is it straight? I'm not in a real big hurry, I'm just a little frustrated since I found this out. The guy I bought this truck from said the frame was good and he also stated he drove it into the shed I picked it up from, but I find that hard to believe since Only one moter mount was in place and the tranny cross member only had hand tight bolts on one side not to mention missing rockers in the engine!

jims69: If I can't find a good straight SWB frame at a reasonable price I most definately would be interested in the trade since I will be swaping to a LWB project.

Stllookn: You are way to far away!!!

frame

David, it depends on how much you want. Whole truck w/ title. $400. If you just want the rolling chassis. $100. If you just want the frame. $50. It has some pits toward the back end, but no rust through (maybe last few feet of frame). Rest looks good. I can get pics if you want. If you just wanted the frame or rolling chassis I will need some time to get the cab/ft clip off. Brian

Burnsman: Pictures would be helpful! (the rear section and any other bad spots.) I'll more than likely take the the roller if it is straight. What year is it from? I'm not pushing your schedule, but would like an Idea as to when I could get it? I'm going to work on getting the LWB stripped and getting a BB engine in the mean time! You wouldn't happen to have a 402 or 396? If it needs a major overhaul thats fine as long as the block, heads, and crack are good.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. It may be 2-4 weeks before I get to it (would that be ok?). I don't have one, but my buddy does (if I remember correctly). He has a bunch of big block stufff. Lon Williams 814-337-2797.

Brian, Thanks I just talked to him and I'll be coming up to pick up a 427 Tall block from him tomorrow. If you give me your address I and time is not to tight I might be able to swing by and look at the frame in person. Depends on how much time the wife lets me run free with though!

Well I decided not to get the 427 Tall deck since this type of engine has to get seriously modified to be a power engine. They do good if stroked and I think you can stroke these out to over 500 CI but the cost of doing it is a little more than I want to spend on the engine in my project and they are real dogs in their stock configuration. So still looking for a BB engine project. As for the frame it sounds like Brian has what I need.

Brian, I just want to worn you, I travel alot for work. I'm on vacation until the end of the week. After that I will be hitting the road and can be gone for up to a month at a time. So their could be some delays in me coming up to get the frame if that is alright. Then again I could be lucky and be able to pick it up the same day you say it is ready, I never know with my line of work.

No problem. It may be a while before I get to it. I have some "family time" planned for august. But I also have a few swap meets coming up in september and I need to get my shop parking lot cleaned up. Lon didn't have any 396's or 402's? He ususally has a bunch of stuff, but he may be low. I have a few other connections. I'll get you the numbers within a few days.

That's what this board is for! If I don't have it, I can generally find someone who does.....
