Antenna
With Russ' help, I got the knobs. Now - is it possible to get the original style antenna out without removing the cowl? ALso, is there an antenna you would recommend that would work well, or do I have to replace with the same style.
I know I am posting a bit, but I'm new at this (rebuilding) and trying to get an education. Any input greatly appreciated. TF |

Is the hole in the crowl factory? If so when it is 1 1/8" with a notch and most replacement antenna's are 1". This will give you problem when mounting. I ended up having to buy the factory replacement one. They are expensive about $45.00

i also had seen like w/ gmcpauls that the factory antenna's were $40 bucks or so.i went to auto zone and got a chromed universal antenna w/ cable and hdwre. for less than $6 bucks. looks as good as factory,(excuse me restorers),for much less.and no it's not necessary to take off the cowl panel.base of the antenna has 2 "ducks feet" that you slip down into the hole and they automatically camber out once inside the hole.slide down the chrome bezel over the black metal base and done.well besides feeding down the cable end through the hole first, and along your gap in the fender and firewall and into the engine compartment.this obviously,is done first.i ran my cable end in w/my wire to my heater motor, already has a firewall plug to pass the blower motor wire through at.g'luck!

My original antenna got snapped off while my kids were playing ball. One of them missed the ball and OOPS. I replaced it with an after market one but it does'nt fit as good.Stay with original style if you can
