Tire Size Problems - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Okay, Friday afternoon I went and priced the set of tires that I would like to run on my truck. Now, I'm filled with even more questions than before. I've read about every thread on 20's and what tire size people are running, but I still haven't found all the answers. While I was there, they were a lot of help, especially in trying to convert the stance of my truck currently and how the tires will be with the drop on and so on. The tires that I got priced on were 265/35r20's for the front, and 295/45r20's for the rear. Am I going to have rubbing issues with they size in the front and/or rear? Any information or feedback will be greatly appreciated. I'm planning on dropping my SWB 3.5 inches in the front, and either 4 or 5 inches in the rear, just to add a little more information. Thanks you for any response I might receive.

295/50/20 in the rear, 20x10 w/5 1/4" back spacing. No problems with rubbing. 4" drop in front, 6" drop rear. Will bag the rear to squeeze it down just a bit more. Lots of room. Hope it helps...JK

what r u running in the front?

Front: 255/55/18 tires and 18x8 4 1/2 backspace wheels.

I have 285/50/20 all the way around. I had minor rubbing in the back so i used some spacers for now(which i hate) but i am working on a project to slightly tub the bed so they will fit without or i will find a slighty wider rear end.

So in reference to the 295/45's, how much taller, skinner, shorter....are 285/50's? I don't quite understand how you compare the size of tires.

the real easy way?
the first number is how many milimeters wide so 285mm wide
the second number is a percent of the first so 50% of 285 = 142.5mm tall
the third is obviously the wheel diameter so 20in tall
