Dash Pad Question

Has anyone bought a replacement dash pad from LMC or any other aftermarket company. If so how did they fit vs. the OE one. I am going to just go ahead and buy a new one since there is not one out there used that is in good shape. Im just wondering if I should buy the aftermarket pad or the OE. The OE pad is only $30 more.

I bought one for my '76 GMC from JCWhitney. It's made by Dashes Direct. It's made out of urethane, and looked decent. I wound up replacing mine because I found an NOS one on eBay for a price I couldn't pass up.

If you happen to need a blue one, and want to go with the urethane, I have the one I bought from JCWhitney, and I will let it go CHEAP just to get it out of my way.

I made a thread about this a lil while back, and my responses generaly leaned to urethane. The problems you face(d) with the original (breaking, rotting) will simply reoccur with one made of OE materail. And supposedly (as i haven't ordered mine just yet), the urethane looks pretty good and fits ok.

Chevy duty has them cheap. www.chevyduty.com

That listed it having the VIN hole, which to me means 79-80. Did you check to see if yours really has the VIN there?

BTW, I sell the Dashes Direct pieces.

Well the thing I am getting at is the OE ones from my local dealer are $270, Lmc is $240. I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck with the aftermarket.

They have 2 versions for the 81-91. A vinyl duplicate and a repro version. The one you want it the vinyl version.
Is it going to be $225 + shipping for the 81-87 vinyl, $210 + shipping for the 81-91 Repro, $220 + shipping on the 73-78 and 79-80. Shipping should be $20

I bought a repro off of ebay and I cursed the day I did it until I got my new used dash. The repro didn't fit at all and had no structure what so ever. I hung in and waited until I found a good dash at a good price.

If I had it to do all over again I would send mine out to that place in Arizona and have it redone.
