Shiny new chrome

I was on my way to the paint supply store To buy materials to repaint my bumper. I'd been putting it off for a while, and the bumper was looking pretty shabby. I drive a lot of miles so I've gotten used to painting the bumper rather frequently. Well anyway on the way there I stopped by our local truck parts emporium, and walked out with a new chrome bumper. It fit great, and the plating looks real nice. No more bumper painting for me.

Very nice! And he does mean it when he mentions the bumper painting. The desert sand is tough on painr near the highway. Nice truck!

Not very likely, but I will clean it up this weekend. The grill gets new little dings in it all the time. A new one is pretty expensive, and would get beat up in no time. What I'd really like to do is hang a '68 front clip on it.

A chrome bumper makes you go faster Wow, in that case?? what would happen if the whole truck was chromed? Race car drivers would be using more chrome on their cars if that was the case.

Yes, chrome does make you go faster, simply because it's a smoother surface and therefore when the air runs over your chromed bumper it actually speeds up and flows faster. Uh, yeah, that's right, THAT"S exactly right uh-huh. And, and I got a beautiful piece of Beach front property in AZ. for sale Just for you.
And, and, when you put a NOS sticker on the inside of your hood you also get 5mph increas........Oh wait.......sorry.

jhwkns: I like your idea of putting a 68 front clip on.....I don't know why, but it seems like a good idea to me.

I bought the bumper locally here at Tuckers. I'm sure you can find a vendor closer to where you live. There are different levels of quality in aftermarket bumpers. So be careful what you buy.

I cleaned the grill, painted the areas that are supposed to be blacked out, and painted the bezels. Quite a change from a couple days ago. I still haven't decided whether or not to put in a grill insert.. here's a picture..

Sand your grille with 2000 grit sandpaper and get that new Mother's Powerball and polish the grille back up and you will look good as new.

To save alot on the sanding you can also use Easy Off oven cleaner to remove the factory anodized grille finish.
It is then MUCH easier to polish.
