would like to know how to spot different radiators
I would like to know how a person can tell if the radiator is a single core, four core, etc., and how do you know which one needs to be in your truck?

best answer i can give is this,
Open up the rad and look in side, if i remember right, there will be 2 holes horizontaly for a 2 row, 3 for a 3, and 4 for a 4. as for the type for your truck, to him his own, i've had a 2 and a 3. depends on where you're located, i'm in northern Missouri near IL and i think that my 3 has done me fine all summer. and i don't do much towing at all and i've got a 350. It will also depend on what kind of brackets you have in your truck. each "rad" has it's own brackets b/c a 4 row rad is wider than a 2 row. my .02, correct me if i'm wrong. sswj

Yup, what he said.... I run a new 3 core and it does fine for a smallblock. As long as everything else is in good working order [ie fan shroud, pump, heater core, hoses & t-stat] it will suffice for most all SB applications in medium climate zones. The rad is 1 big part of a complex system, don't ignore the other parts, not with winter just around the corner. There is no mistaking 4 core brackets, those things are HUGE!

i don't even have a fan shroud. i do have a flex fan with no clutch.
my .02 I can't remeber it ever overheating but once when i was at idle. sswj
