I'm in love

Thinking very strongly about ordering one of these kits. It's Billet Specialties Serpentine Conversion set. Comes complete with eveything you see in the pic. Only pulleys and brackets, no alternator or PS pump of course. I already have their valve covers, oil filler cap, breather, PCV valve, thermostat housing, PS pump cap and radiator cap.

Since they quit requiring emissions sniffer inspections here after this year and I can get it inspected anywhere in the state, I have already ditched all the emissions crap. I swapped out my Edelbrock Performer EGR intake for a Performer RPM. Swapped out my Edelbrock TES emission headers for some Hooker long tubes. Also am in the process of redoing the exhaust without any cats. I have been out of the loop with my truck now for too long. I got sort of down on everything with it. Don't know why, just did. Haven't been hanging out in here either as everyone knows. I guess I'm buying new stuff for it to make me get back into the groove in a way. Anyway, I love shiney stuff. Have been eyeing this kit for awhile now. I can finally take the plunge and get it since I don't have a A.I.R. pump to worry about.

Would you buy it if you could? It's expensive but heck, what isn't anymore? Besides, it's only money. I can't take it with me with I croak.

That does look nice Mike, and it would match everything else you already have. I personally don't like that much shiny stuff, but if you like it thats all that counts.

I think Airmale just got a similar setup off Ebay for super cheap, maybe the person he bought his from has more?

What size are your cats, and how much? I'm getting the feeling that we'll be getting emissions here soon, and I wouldn't mind doing my part. Besides, my 2.5 inch pipes are way too loud, lol

looks pretty much like a copy of the kit that march has had for years. i've had the march setup on mine for 2 years. i love it and payed alot for it but would do it again. i went with a black powdercoated alternator and black p.s. pump so it wouldn't be over done in shineyness. i have the whole kit, p.s. pump just wasn't on it this pic.

As you pointed out and as Jeff said, it would keep the theme of your other engine accessories. But, more polishing, eh? Billet Specialties stuff is nice. It's somewhat expensive, but cheaper that Vinage Air's Frontrunner.

But, does that mean that you would have to swap out your TTs for BSs wheels.

That is not a true serpentine because it uses two belts. Yes, they are sepentine style ribbed belts.

Check out Zoops. They have a true serpentine conversion for less than $470.

Mike those do look good. I considered one of their systems for my 77 but changed my mind since they aren't coated. I looks at the March system too because it is coated. I finally settled for a set of chrome brackets from Bills Hot Rod shop. They aren't as pretty as the ones you posted but they sure will be less work.

BTW- Welcome back! I'm glad to see you get motivated on your truck again....

Yeah most of these systems run two belts. If they ran a single belt they would have to run idler pullies and a belt tensioner. The dual belt alows them to be tightened the old fashion way. It keeps things simple....

I also like that they are seperate belts and not a single one. If one thing goes out then you're screwed on the side of the road. Definately get that one

Just do it! I also bought a rebuit saginaw pump for $40 that March recomends. Got mine for $420 shipped

if the B.S. kit isn't coated i would pass on it, it would be a huge pita to keep those things polished. the march kit is clear powdercoated, a quick wipe with a rag and it looks like new

It sounds like you have already considered the Vintage Air System, and it probably is a bit more expensive, but I have to tell you, I love my set up. It is a single belt, and it does have an idler pulley, I have not seen any problems with that. It's easy to set up, and also very compact, as the technology is reverse engineered from the hotrod industry in which there is not alot of front end room.

Good luck upgrading to either of these systems, they are terrific.

I' right there with you Mike. This is the next "big" item on the To-Buy list, I have been looking at the March, BS and Vintage full serpentine systems. They are all about the same $$ but am leaning towards the March system due to it being coated.

I like the 2 belt system, just for the simple fact that you wouldnt have to change your waterpump to the serpentine style (reverse rotation).

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. After posting this last night, I couldn't take the wait. I clicked the submit button.

These are clear powder coated or else I wouldn't have bought them. I have too damn much polished billet to keep clean as it is. I absolutely love polished billet stuff as to me it doesn't look cheap like chrome. Just a personal preference.

One thing that kept me away from March stuff is it being a machine finish instead of polished. Now I can't wait until they get here. I feel like a kid in a candy store. Feels good to have the fire back again. Last night just for the heck of it, I put a kit in my Edelbrock Q-jet. Didn't need it, just felt like doing it before it did need it. This is the way I used to be. Do stuff to the truck for the fun of it instead of doing it because I had to.
