Taking off headlight switch?

I need to pull my gage off of my '70 but do not remember how to take the headlight knob off. Any help please? Thanks!

Up under the dash on top of the switch is a button, push it and pull out the knob and shaft. it's not as dirty as it sounds

Pull it out to turn on the lights. Reach under the dash and find the small button on the top of the switch. Press, and pull the light switch handle the rest of the way out. Don't forget to reinsert while you've got the dash off or you might kill your battery.
