met a punk in a truck...LOL!!!!
in traffic today I was sittin at a light, and this 16 year old punk pulls up in the nastiest jalopy of a turd you could ever imagine. I don't know what was holding it together. It was a lwb step side with more rust holes than sheet metal. Cab corners were not only rusted out, but all the way up to the line where the molding used to be on it. The door was so bad, I was lookin at his window in the bottom of the friken door!
Anyways, this thing had one header that the collecter was almost rusted off, and it was running on 7 holes...sounded like crap. The kid pulls up and shouts to me askin if i wanted to RACE!!! I shut off my truck and yelled WHAT? (makin sure I heard him right) He says this thing ROCKS...it has a stock car engine in it. ( stock car...said it like it was one word) I cracked up laughin, so he revved it up, smoke pouring out the one pipe that was still attached. I said Knock that sh!t off! the light chainges, and he slams the gas and then pops it in drive once the engine was up to about 5000 RPM. The right rear tire spun for about 2 feet and it putted through the intersection. By this time I was laughing so damn hard I was about to p!ss myself. I passed him up and pulled into a gas station. He pulls in revvin the pee oput of his 'race motor' trying sooooo hard to look cool. There was a guy in an old camaro there that looked and cracked up laughing too. I told the kid about the board and his responce was I don't need 5000+ people to tell me how to do it, I have it all planned out. OK...what ever. I ask if i can see his stock-car engine, and he tells me he hasn't figured how to open the hood. (he says this as opens the drivers door pointing to the vent knob) He says i can't get the hood release thngy to work, it just moves freely with a screatching noise. I opened the hood, and was greated to the nastyest, grungiest, slimiest small block ever seen by man. This thing was cobbled so bad it was unreal. (a bread bag twisty tie held the throttle rod to the ONE BARREL carb. A MONO JET ON A STOCK-CAR!!!!!! I was laughing so bad it was unreal. I reached down and plugged in the spark plug wire that was zapping the frame every time it got power, and told him to start it up. It still sounded like crap, but at least it idled on it's own. He killed it and I tried telling him that it is a stock (as in original) car (as in caprice station wagon) engine. He starts telling me how it is a de-tuned winston cup car!!! I smiled as i got in my truck and left. I never did tell him how I opened the hood, and as I pulled out of the lot, I heard him slam the hood, then stare through the grill tryign to figure it out. I thought it would be funny to atch this, so I pulled back in and bought a bottle of dew (like I ddn't already have one) just so I could see if he would getit. He was still trying to figure it out 5 min later when i left. This kid made my day. 16, on top of the world, ad trying to say he has it all figured it out. Other peoples children...I'm tellin you... |

Good story Longhorn, LOL.
Its one thing to be young and cocky, and another to be young and stupid. Takes all kinds to make the world go around, I guess.

sounds like this town except it would be 79 honda civic w/ a fart pipe, slammed to the ground (by heating of course) and it would be "this car has a indi car motor" instead of stock car. great story andy

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was great..... I think.... sounded too much like someone describing my truck....I should go check to make sure someone didn't steal it... And here all I ever run into is punks in rustangs... and my truck is nowhere near close enough to run faster than a turtle going up a hill....

I will soon be 55 years old. There are very few of us (enthusiasts) who have not seen this behavior, and some of us probably were that kid, at one time. Remember your first car/truck?
My first car was a '48 Dodge 4-dr. Got it in '63. There was so much wear in the cylinder bores that at least 2 of the pistons were swapping holes as they reached the bottom of there stroke. It smoked so bad you couldn't see the front bumper on my Dad's car as he pushed us up a hill while it was running and doing all it could! I had all kinds of grand plans for it, like another motor or getting that one rebuilt. At that time, it would cost $35 for a used engine and I didn't have the money for that. The old Dodge looked good, sitting in the shed, not running. My neighbor and I used to push it up the hill in the pasture and sit in it and coast down to the bottom, where we got out and pushed it back up again. Talk about needing a size 4 hat and having a size 18 neck....get the picture. Way too much testosterone used pushing that Dodge. At least I learned that I didn't want any more Dodges. Is he kin to Richard Petty? Did he mention that? Or, maybe Junior Johnson, since Junior was a Chevy man. Maybe that's where the truck came from.

Kids who are so mechanicly handicapped, shouldn't own vehicles. You should have sold him your Mountain Dew as Headlight fluid, Could have mada a buck or two, and he would have "Halogen fluid" to shine farther up the road, 'cause his truck goes so fast.

Way too funny. I'm LMAO. I suppose he'll try that line on some young gal, but it won't get him too far. He'll probably kep racing it until it blows !!!!!!!!!! (and he has to take a walk down the road picking up chunks of connecting rods) TJ

poor kid.....
poor kid.....someone lied to him.....
man.....that was a funny story though.....I hope I can have some experience like that....I would never race in the streets....too dangerous....too many cops....but man if someone really wanted it....i'd get him all riled up and rev up my engine and be ready for the green....oh man i'd talk so much trash and just push his buttons...then.....GREEN....just drive as a well mannered considerate member of the driving community.....hope fully he would peel out and look like an idiot..and maybe even get a ticket....and I would laugh and point.

people like that piss me off, they are so arrogant to think for a second. thats deffinatly better than the other day, cruising in the 85 t-top Z/28 I've been dragracing, and guy(mid 20s) in a beat up rusty 3rd gen. camaro pulls up looks over and revs his motor, blows smoke out I laugh and 1/3 throttle off the light with the 355 and 700R4 and he is bangin gears(prolly a t-5) and when I, gently on the throttle, shift it to 2nd she barks the tires off more than this beat up camaro floored bangin a 5 spd. and I still beat him to, 1/3 throttle. dumb sh*t anyway, see not ALL teens are dumbasses I'm 17 and this guy was prolly 25 or 26 by the looks of him.. oh well

I'm 17 and am the motor head at school, other kids bring me along when they go car shopping and ask which is better. Sure I like to rev it a little but I know when to stop and back off. This kid sounds like he just got the truck from his redneck uncle who at one time saw a cup race and said his truck sounded like one of those cars and sold it to his nephew. well whatever, just rambling. Feel bad for that truck though.

MJN, thats me to, but i only know chevys, theres mostly hondas at my school, knowing how to change oil is rare at my school too, i would normally hate people like this, but that was too funny to hate him. as someone said, he just got lied too, a guy with a frame up'd 68 told me that his 502 was stock when was 15, i believed him and always asked if a 67-72 hd a 502 in it when i was shopping for trucks, he jsut needs to have a long talk with someone on teh board to straighten him out, funny story though
