Un-needed setback
It would be a lot easier to get things done if people didn't steal things off my truck.
Went out to talk to my daughter who was jumping on the trampoline and noticed that my hood was popped. I'm thinking, "Oh, that's not good, I'm sure I didn't leave it like that." Open it up and.. yup.. no battery. My one conselation is that the dang battary wouldn't hold a charge for more than a day or two sitting anyway. Sure makes it hard to finish my wiring project though. f-tards

When I first got my old blue Longhorn, it had a full tank of gas in it. After a couple weeks of it sitting (needed a tranny) I saw the cap was missing and low and behold, the tank was empty.
I put 10 gallons in there, cuz I was plainning on doing some tuning that weekend and wanted it to be dead on when the tranny guys would finish the rebuild. Yep, they got that too. So then i grabbed a bright red jerry can, filled it with about 2 or 3 gallons of gas, and the rest water. heh heh heh.... The very next morning, I found the bastard who had been steeling my gas. (mustang wouldn't start...musta had water in the tank huh?) And when i confronted him, he actually whipped out a 50 dollar bill and said "dude, you got me good, here, this is for the gas I took. It didn't help, I still wanted to punch him. |

Panhandler - sorry to hear about your situation - too bad you might be held liable if you caught the bastard by booby-trapping your truck.
Andy - what a great story!

I was out there this evening stringing a bike cable through the hood support and around the latch bracket.. kind of crude, but you really can't get the hood up much without unlocking it now.
I was blue skying... lol .. If I had an alarm I could simply lean out my window with a shotgun and convince these reprobates that they has best take their larceny eleslwhere.. but then, as you mention.. I would probably be in trouble.

I hate thieves,it really pisses me off cause I dont take anything from anyone(I guess you could say Ive stolen stuff sometimes by the price I have paid for something but we all know that's different and legal), and to have some low life piece of $#!+ take something from me makes me want to shoot the sorry sob if I catch him. way to go longhorn I know the guy probably was ready to crap in his pants when he realized he was caught..

I've had 2 batteries stolen over the past several years. It sucks jumpin in your truck, you turn the key and nothin. 20 scenarios pop in your mind as to what it could be and then you pop the hood...... where in the hell did that dang battery run off to? People steal. Just be glad your one that doesn't, and be happy it wasn't a carb. Still sucks though.....

Sounds like you need an in-cab hood release!!!
HOOD RELEASE FAQ I love the gas-n-water thing!!! Should have used that one the week after the hurricane when gas was limited and being stolen!

I feel your pain. Back in 93 I had a 73 4x4 with a dual battery set-up. Yup...they got both of them in a parking lot outside the San Diego Naval base. Was probably the guys that were paid to watch over the vehicles...
Worst part was, the truck came with a chain and lock under the hood(rigged of course). I was too lazy to lock it. Live and learn...
