WDYGD This Weekend
My turn... lol
I know, it's early yet, but I'm happy (and I have a date, but that's another story) .. I fixed a bunch of wiring issues in the truck and got my new instrument panel installed. It's definatly a redneck-special truck, but it's getting kind of a cool edge to it. BTW: Does anyone know where I can get the spring for the horn button so I can hook it up right?

Finished buttoning up the one-piece glass installation, installed Mazda Miata side view mirrors, found out I had the wrong rear bumper brackets, went to a swap meet, fixed the neighbor's flat tire on the lawn mower and did some chores around the house.

Topped many trees, cut and stacked much firewood, cleaned up a lot of debris scattered around my yard. Replace the mailbox, satellite dish and found my hot tub under a pecan a cherry AND an oak tree. But other than using my truck to skid logs, I didn't get to work on it very much.

I put the truck up in the air and pulled the fuel tank to clean it out. Somehow I got about 30 litres of water in it (underbed tank). Left it out to complete a modification on it the first of the week. On another note I am going to a local car show tomorrow and taking the truck on the trailer. The truck towing the trailer is the one that is broken down, right now.

I adjusted on the carb some yesterday and have almost got the off cruise stumble gone. Other than that, just a dump run yesterday.

Bolted the oil pan on the 383, yep she's still on the engine stand. Need to get distributor refurbished, I plan to install a Crane XR1 solid-state module to replace the points, an advance kit, gear, cap/rotor and new vacuum advance canister.

Cut a patch panel off rear of 70 fender, it needed small patch, welded that in, welded it to 72 fender as well as welding a front patch, too easy to burn through, I'm doing something wrong. Sheet metal work is lot of welding and grinding, takes some time. Took radiator brace and LF fender off 70, gonna clean engine compartment.

Cut back to good metal and grind ALL the paint off of the area you are welding. The black stuff on the patch, assuming you bought one with the EDP coating, is ok to weld.

I did the same thing to my slot mags when I first got them. First step was to scrub them with a scotchbrite and running water. Finish up with "Neverdull". The neverdull is a polishing wad, available at Wal-Mart or any similar place for about 4 bucks in the automotive cleaning products section. It's like polishing cotton. You tear off a piece and rub with it and the shine appears. My wheels looked similar to his and now look literally brand new.

I used Scotch brite, a buffer wheel, Mothers Powerball, and plenty of Budweiser.

Go get a Powerball to get your wheels that shiny. That thing is sweet. Hook it to your drill and go to town. Find a better way to workout your arms.

Late entry -- I'll have to get a picture of this ...
I scraped a very, very thin layer of bondo off my bedside and found a buckshot pattern. Guess someone thought it looked like a goose.

Got my intake installed and finally got the truck running again after 3 months of sitting. Today I drove it to work, longest trip since I started tearing it apart almost 3 years ago
Here's the link to more pics of it The Link

Hmm, lets see, Initiated 38 new CPO's Thursday night, the same night my fuel pump went out on the '71, so replaced that Friday, Saturday worked on an oil leak on the VW(no joy), Sunday filled all the driver side trim holes on the Blazer, finished up the passenger bed side patch and drank lots of Bud Light!!
