cruise control?
My 72 4x4 3/4 ton has a extra knob on the gauge cluster on the right hand side. I had no idea what it was. I looked under the dash and traced the cable to a braket which works with the gas pedal. It looks like you could pull the cable and set the gas pedal where you wanted it.The inner cable is broke. Was this an option for these trucks or is this just somthing someone has rigged up? thanks Mike

Hand throttle I think. Mostly used on work trucks/farm trucks, just drop that puppy in granny gear, set the throttle and let it idle down the rows as you fill it with produce/hay/whatever.

My 71 3/4 ton 4x4 has one. It's marked on the dash bezel as "throttle". Works good on cold mornings to keep it running during warmup.

I had a '57 Chevy truck one time and you could do this without this. All you had to do was put her in granny gear and you could get out and walk beside the truck.

Do NOT pull on the knob. It is a worm-gear drive for very precise throttle control. Most of the time the cable has been damage by being pulled.
A very desirable option.

Yeah, those trucks did have cruise control. My 1970 Sierra Grande has factory cruise. The unit that sold on ebay was an aftermarket set up. If you look in the questions that were asked about it, the seller says it was not original. I had to go and look at it and I could not believe the whole set-up would sell for $37.
