Question rear end help

I have a 1/2 ton rear end right now with a 3:11(I think) ratio....it's good for toweing but it blows for milage.....I am thinking of upgrading to a 3/4 that has a 4:11 ratio.....would this get me better milage and the same toweing power as I do now?...only problem is I need to see if I can get 5 lug axels for it or find some way to convert.

The 4:11 is going to give you worse mileage than what your getting now. The 4:11 will tow great though. If you want a better mpg gear you need to get a higher gear (lower number).
