8.1 Vortec ?????
How difficult would it be to put in a 8.1 with Allison. I dont really mean the easy things like mounts, exhaust, etc more like the electronics part. If the motor has all the wiring with it could you literally just hook those up and stuff them inside the cab or do they need to tie into the factory dash gauges etc. Also the Allison, what does it need.
I am sure this has been done Thanks for your input

the allison is fully computer controlled. most of the newer computer systems have different sensors for the gauge and then another for the computer to get its readings from. i know sure on that specific engine but for the most part thats how it is.quite a few guys here have done the ls1 swap and the electronics will be basically the same between those and the 8.1 motor

I am pretty sure the engine is drive by wire so you would need to rig up the gas pedal to a sensor and run the wire to the computer then the computer tells the engine what to do. You would have to make a larger hump for the allison as it is higher further back than the th400. But anything is possible with time and money. The intake should fit in with no extra pounding. The only issue then is the fan setup for the radiator, the stock mounts don't leave enough room for the mechanical fan setup so you will have to convert to all electric. Without air it would be easy with pushers, With air you are going to have to get creative.
