Decent audio for $79

I was frustrated with the USA-3 stereo/cassette player that I had installed in my '70 C10. It cost about $180 with shipping and is a pretty lousy unit. I was determined not to make the same mistake with my '67 C10.

Using my 27 year old pioneer box speakers (painted flat black) that previously had lived in a '78 CJ7 and '86 S10, I installed a Pioneer DEH-1700 CD receiver (Best Buy, $99 - $20 rebate = $79) under the dash. Sounds great, looks good, not in the way even for passenger in middle seat.

Hope this helps someone looking for inexpensive, but decent sound. Not sure where one would find similar speakers though...

farside847, see some of the comments here:

I agree with them and was very disappointed in the quality. A lot to pay for having a bowtie on the unit. Of course, the only other positive is that it fits in the original dash opening.

chevyfarmer, those are high dollar cup holders...wally world for a couple of bucks!
