disc brake conversion question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

It is to my understanding that for a drum to disc conversion on my 69 chev c10, I need spindles from a 73-87 is this correct? if so what other parts from the 73-87, booster, brake lines, etc... can i use?

Tie rod tapers are different, as the ball joints I believe. Center link. pittman. I'm sure other members will chime in. The swap on my 1 ton took quite a few parts.

Or you could do like I am about to do, which is swap the whole crossmember out from under a 73 and up truck.

swapping the whole crossmember to a 73+, that works. does it bolt up right?
any cutting or welding involved. why dont more people do this instead of all the misc parts swap?

If I ever get back to the frame under construction, I intend to do the 73 crosssmember change. I have a 73 available, this should allow me to stick with all 73 parts.

got myself a complete crossmember for my new frame today, what can i do for rear end? can i use the 87 with the five lug? what other options do I have to switch my rear to five lug?
