Late model sierra seats in a 71
Ok, so I picked up the seats I am going to use. 2002 Chevy 1/2 ton, split with the little buddy seat in the middle.
I threw them in the cab last night, trying to work out placement. Anyone else have these in their 67-72? Can you give me a measurement from the back of the cab to the "foot" of the seat, i.e where the back bolts down? I figured out how I am going to support the seatbelts and the mounts. I made a piece of C channel that will be welded to the bottom of the cab, it's already drilled for the seat mounts. The C channel is 3/8" thick, is 3" wide with a 1" lip on each side. Should be plenty strong and I am running it from cab end to cab end for all seat mounts. Heck, I may even build a stringer for it to tie into the frame... Are these the 40/20/40 style? If so, I will get you whatever measurements you want.

In fact, I will probably delete this one, now that we're talking about it there |

Re: Late model sierra seats in a 71
Might as well leave it here as some might not see it in the other thread to add their own info. Here is a link to a page I put together with info about mounting these seats in my truck. I wish I would have used C channel under the cab for even more strength. Guess I can always change that.
http://yukon.b0xen.us/interiorweb.html The measurement you want is from the back of the cab to the rear mounting hole on the seats, right?

Thanks for the information. Yes, that's the measurement I am looking for. I am building 6 pieces of C channel, with holes drilled to match the seats, sandwiching the floor boards. Then I may weld them to the floor... I don't think fender washers will hold up in an impact. I also tend to over engineer things. Should see the roll cage I put into my old blazer |
