Body mounts original or poly

Going to be putting new body mounts on 71 blazer/truck project. Wondering pro's and con's. Do poly mounts give too stiff of a ride? Originals were good enough for 30 yrs, just stay with them? I'll probably use poly on suspension. Best place to buy from vendor on this site. Thanks for any input.................Rick

Re: Body mounts original or poly

I ordered poly from summit for the blazer as I want body/frame as tight as possible.

Re: Body mounts original or poly

I have used Poly bushings in a 67 Nova (and a couple VW Bugs) and everyone of them SQEEEEEEEKED, it drove me nuts. I tried installing them with lube but, that only lasted a short time before the freakin Canaries came back. I am not sure about the cab bushing but, the suspension stuff is not worth the sqeeking IMO.

I ordered stock bushings for my truck. You will more than likely get more road noice and feel the road more with Poly over the stock rubber ones.

Re: Body mounts original or poly

Talked to a local guy who bought some parts from me. He said poly mounts will cause body to crack around mounts if doing alot of 4wheeling. I'm going with original. LMC has complete kit with bolts, will have to check if anyone else has. Thanks for all the help everyone.........Rick

Re: Body mounts original or poly

I've always run new GM OEM cab mounts with no problems at all.

This last truck, I bought a set of rubber aftermarket mounts from a vendor and they cracked and split already. They've been installed since March, that's it.

I'm going back to GM mounts from now on, no more aftermarkets for me.
