New headlights or headlight setup with new grill

As many of you might know i have opted for the full phantom grill. This covers the headlight and will be a pain to change a regular bulb. So i was thinking of maybe those after market H3 or h4? units. Can't remember which are headlights and which are fogs. My other possibility is going with a whole HID unit out of a car or something. In this case i would use the whole headlight assembly. Do you guys have any suggestions? They will barely be visible so looks are not really a concern just ease of use etc..
Thanks

I know LMC is a bad word, but I just ordered their catalog (free and at least a good resource for IDing parts). Anyways they have that 43-4 setup for like $29 a piece, so that is an option or locating a setup out of a newer truck or car, but that may be more pricey? Good luck and let us know what worked.

Re: New headlights or headlight setup with new grill

I put these on my Blazer. Only problem was I had to cut on the head light buckets to make clearance for the parking light (it is in the housing, I took out the blue bulbs and replaced them with amber and use them for turn signal/parking lights). There are other 7" units that will also fit. The quality was okay... Shipping was slow...

I attached a picture, but it is hard to tell anything from it...

Good luck, Rg

Re: New headlights or headlight setup with new grill

Yeah, the turn signals are below the H4 bulb inside the glass housing, I wish I had a better pic. I cut out the area with the bulb in it (it is blue in the picture, but I replaced mine with amber) so you would understand. I can try to get a better pic of mine tonight.

I know there are others that sell these, but for the price, it's hard to beat.

i saw a kit at speedway for this http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/asp...qx/Product.htm
This is what i was thinking as well. Do you have enough access to change a bulb from behind?

Re: New headlights or headlight setup with new grill

Yeah, there's plenty of room. If you buy the ones off of the internet you won't need the kit from Speedway. The globes on ebay have a hole drilled in the back that the bulb grommets in to.

Re: New headlights or headlight setup with new grill

chevy 72, I took some pics I will post tomorrow (usb ports on this computer don't work) but I started thinking, with the style I have you WOULDN'T be able to change the turn signal light. You can change the H4 from under the hood but it would be tuff to change the other bulb without removing the globe.

Hope this helps, Rg

Re: New headlights or headlight setup with new grill

Why is the listing for 69-80?? Are 67-68 headlights not the same as 69 and up??

here in tn you cant have anything in front of your headlights
you may want to check you local laws and see what they say about the grill in front of the headlights be for you do that

thanks for the heads up. I am not really worried about it. There are several trucks and suvs running around town with phantom grilles. They don't seem to pay much attention to anything like that around here. If i were to move some where larger i might have issues though.
