Need Help With Rallye Wheels....H E L P
Hey guys, need your help here...I went to get my 15X8 & 15X10 rallye wheels only to find out that they are the CORVETTE style rallye wheels...What do you guys think I should do, I can get all 4 for $220. They can accept the deby or Police style caps which are cool, I just pictured (in my head) the truck rallyes on the truck...
OR, do any of you have the Vette Rallye's that we can see? H-E-L-P Mike |

If they are corvette style, then they are probably 5 on 4 3/4, and the trucks are 5 on 5, so they won't fit. Unless someone is selling the corvette style in a truck pattern? If so get em' the are coll with the cop style cap. I have a set of 17" vette style wheels on my 70 RS/SS Camaro with the cop cap and they are very cool! |

Many aftermarket folks do make the Vette style ralleys in various bolt patters botyh 5 and 6 lug. they also make them in all sorts of backspacing combinations. I have not seen any done in truck style ralley. There are companies like Stockton Wheels that will take your 15x8 truck ralleys and widen them to 5x10 or whatever, but I have no idea on cost. I personally like the truck style (lot of little holes) more than the vette style (5 holes I think)

Well the difference in price is pretty wide. I can get the bare Corvette style 8's & 10's for $200 delivered (he only lives 15 minutes away) or the Truck style 8's & 10's for $600 plus shipping & tax (Stockton Wheels).
I am almost leaning towards the Vette style, not just the price difference but, how many Corvette style rallye's do you see on our trucks? It is a way to look cool/different Give me some feedback guys, it will truly help me in making my decision.... Mike |

check out my avitar, not the biggest pic, but I have corvette style ralleys and they are 6 lug. They were on the truck when I got it, with derby caps and 3" rings, and I have always been partial to the vette style.

i got 10 inch all around chrome didn't have any centers when i got the truck so i bought some from lcm my rubber is 255/70r15 datona datyons sr and will the grip a turn but luck my cam broken

I got my truck ralleys for $200, including the center caps and chrome trims rings. Its w local guy to us to in San Jose. Daves Rallleyes I think. I went looking for the site and cant find it right now. Grrr.

I've got truck rallys on mine and like them very much, but a guy up the street has a 6 lug vette rallys with the standard center cap,(not the cop car type) and they also look good.

Okay...Thanks guys for your help, the wheels are on their way. I called the guy up and told him that I decided to go with the Vette rallye's and he is delivering them to me. 15X8 up front and 15X10 out back
Now I need to figure out what caps to use, I do not like the big derby cap....I am leaning towards the short derby or the police caps... I am going with the 3" stainless steel rings all the way around. Any input on the style of caps that I should go with? Also, I was thinking of going with 295/50 in the rear and maybe 275/50 up front. The 8's have a 4" backspacing and I think the 10's are 5". My truck currently has a 4 1/2" front drop and a 5" rear drop, am I going to have any rubbing issues? I'll snap a couple pics of the bare wheels once I get them. Mike |

man im jelous. i didnt think i could get the car style raly wheel. i would love to have a set of 6/7" fronts with 10" backs. i also seen some really plain flat stock style center caps with a chevy emblem on them (being sold by someone on here) thought that would be sweet since i would like to make my truck look a bit more hopped up stock appeanance wise.

my caps say power disc brakes on the lol don't know which ones they are but i know i don't have power brakes lmao

Well here they are...I'm not too sure about if they will rub or not up front...I may need to go to 7's up front...Someone PLEASE let me know if you have run 8's up front with 4" backspacing on a truck with a 4 1/2 drop...If so, what tires worked?
$200 for all 4. He said he will swap the 8's for the 7's if they don't work. For another $100, he has the Stainless 3" rings and Stainless center caps (small "Disk Brakes" derby style or the Police centers with bowtie) Help me out with the tires guys...Thanks, Mike |

If you like the lower profile tire look, try some BFG's Radial T/A's 245/60 on the 8's up front & 305/50 on the 10's for the rear.
It's hard to say if they'll rub or not since there are so many variables w/different trucks & combinations of parts. My 68 is dropped more than yours & 8's definitely wouldn't work up front w/o rubbing. IMO.... the 295/50-15's are too short (26.6~26.75" tall) for these trucks. They need @ least 28" of tire out back. If you swap to the 7's up front, maybe a 215/75-15 front tire & a 285/70-15 on those 10's. That's much more meat & will look sweet w/the fenderwells sitting right over the tire w/no gaps. The 215/75 fronts will work w/no problems w/that mild drop 'cause they barely rub w/my 6" drop. Definitely do the cop car centers (aka flat-caps).

Here is a shot of one that was on ebay with the Vette Rallye's, 10's in the rear and 8's up front. He has 4.75 backspacing but has no dropped spindles.

On my '69, I have the Early Classic dropped (2.5-inch) spindles. I had to go to a 15x7, because the back spacing was too deep on the 15x8's that I already had. I did that because the disc brake conversion added about 2-inches to the track width of the front end, and the tires were protruding more in front, than in back.
I emailed ECE a couple weeks ago, because I had a question about backspacing. What they said was, "Use 4-inch backspacing on 15-inch wheels, but larger diameter should use 4 1/2-inch back spacing". So, I'm now looking at some new Ansen Sprint wheels from American Racing. My thought is to go with a 15x7 up front (4-inch B/S) and 17x8 on the rear with a 4 1/2-inch back spacing. With a pair of 235-70-15's on the front (27.9 inch diameter) and 255-60-17's on back (29.1 inch diameter) I'll gain about an inch in front end ride height over the 235-60-15's (26.1 inch diamter) that I have on the front, and virtually the same ride height on the rear, compared to the 255-70-15's (29.0 diameter) it has had for 6 years. I wanted some Corvette style rallye wheels, too, but shipping from CA is about $85, on top of the price of the wheels, plus the cost of having them powder-coated (about $35/wheel). So, the Ansen Sprints are looking like a good deal, and will be period-correct in appearance for the body style.

The guy I got the wheels from showed me where they might rub on the lower A-Arms, he said I could grind out the bottom lip of the arms to clear the wheel. My other thought was to possibly go with custom tubed lower a-arms that should take care of the rubbing part...OR....just go with 7" wheels

Well, I decided to lift the truck up on jack stands and "dry" mount them. The rears were perfect. The fronts had no issues with the a-arms at all, they just stuck out too much (4" backspacing). I am going to switch them out for the 7" wheels with the same backspacing to keep the same wheel-to-fender spacing as the rears. I think I can still fit some decent tires up front.
