frame crack near steering box

I'm asking for a friend of mine. He has a '98 Chev Cheyenne w/ 4WD, 3/4 ton, 350 Vortec engine. He was asking if crack(s) in the frame rail near the steering box is a common problem on these trucks (and other 4X4's). And what might be available to remedy the problem.

You can wish in one hand and crap in the other.
See which one gets filled first.

Re: frame crack near steering box

I have heard that they all will crack after a while some faster if doing a lot of off roading.

Re: frame crack near steering box

http://www.offroaddesign.com they have what you are looking for. A bolt in steering box brace AND a weld in brace also. If I were your friend I would get both kits; just for some added security. It is a small price to pay for your safety. You don't want that thing to let loose when you are going down the highway or around a turn..........
