Hi guys wanted to stop in and say hi. Well here is a pic of my birds nest. (engine bay) My plans are to put a 383 stroker motor into it. Anyone know a good engine builder in the San Diego area?

damn emmisions aye?
you could buy a 383 crate motor for around 4-6 grand, but that might be a b it steep

damn! thats either an 80-up engine or someone was bored and wanted to try to make a SBC engine lok like a japanse one, dang,.
I see torx bit scxrews on carb top, and AIR and EGR, so is probably '80-'86 engine and was probably left intact after being pulled from donor vehicle and palced into truck as is.,

you guys really have to worry THAT much about emissions out there ?? do ppl really try THAT hard to pass testing ??

what engine size is that ? does it have wide balancer or the narrower larger diamter(8") one ?

Yea the smog testing sucks out here. We have to pass a visual and a load test. I'm not sure where the motor came from but it is old and tired so it has to go. The engine is a 350. I'm not sure of the balancer thats on it. What will the size of the balancer tell me?

Hey new bee!!

Get the block casting numbers then go to www.mortec.com You'll find all the engine info you need. Head castings are also listed on the Mortec site.

Do plan using the block for the 383 if it's a 350?

There are a ton of people out that way building motors. Any hot rod magazine has them listed and advertised. GM Crate motor from Chevy is not a bad way to go for the money considering the warranty. Depends on your budget and how crazy you want to get. Scroggins-Dickey isn't far from you, or Arizona Speed and Marine does some nice work. You going carb , Tune port is nice,seeing how your in SMOG LAND!
