Buying Tips

New to the forum. I have found a 68 Chevy Shortbed pickup I'm interested in. Any quick tips on what I need to be aware of when looking over the truck?

Re: Buying Tips

Rust in the lower portions of the body. Bring a magnet to check for thick bondo.

Re: Buying Tips

Other than obvious mechanical stuff, rust is probably the biggest. Cab corners, rockers, floors, cab supports.

Re: Buying Tips

Thanks for the info. After looking at the truck more closely it appears the hood and grill have been changed to a 69 model. Any good books you can recommend for ID, restoration, etc??
