Metal door panel WITHOUT armrest holes..

I was planning on putting the arm rests off of a parts truck in my 71. My 71 has metal door panels. The driver side has an arm rest. The passanger side not only does not have an arm rest, but does not have the holes to mount one. Anybody else ever run across this?

I got three metal door panels at a scrap yard and one has no holes.

I've seen it on a fe 67s bare bones model. Can't say that I saw any on later years than that, but I am sure it was available (or not in this case).

Re: Metal door panel WITHOUT armrest holes..

I have seen on bare bone trucks that only had the driver side set for arm rest. Even the door itself will not have the clips as well.

Bummer about the clips. I'm sure I can get them mounted, just didn't want to ruin a non drilled panel if it was rare. Guess it's not, so let the drilling begin.

Re: Metal door panel WITHOUT armrest holes..

Used to be.....no arm rest because the truck was bought to be worked and passengers were not part of the job. Also, "back in the day", door locks were only on the passenger, i.e, curb, side. Drivers had to unlock the curb side door, then slide across to the drivers' seat, or let the passenger in, who would then reach across and unlock the door by grabbing the inside door release handle.

We've come a looooooong way, baby.

My 68 is as bare bones as they come. No holes for arm rests on either door.

Re: Metal door panel WITHOUT armrest holes..

My 67 is in the No arm rest club. I can see where the tops of doors have had their paint rubbed off by being used as the arm rest. I've always seen them as both there or both gone on 67-72's. My 67 wasn't bare but wasnt highly optioned either, had the upgrade of the 292, had trim along the bottom, trim at the cab with the white top cab. who knows.
