73 crossmember in a 69. Motor mounts?

I am putting a 73-up crossmember in my 69 and need to know if I can use the 73-up motor mounts. I am swapping a BB into it. I have 67-71 BB mounts, 72 BB mounts and also the BB mounts for the 73-up crossmember.
I remember something about the later model being too tall. I am limited physically right now(hernia) and want to avoid a bunch of trial fitting. Would like to do it the first time.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: 73 crossmember in a 69. Motor mounts?

That is a good question.
Personally, i would try to use the 73 & up ones. The 68 - 71 towers are a dime a dozen, but the mounts are expensive.
The 72 towers are worth quite a bit... sell them to the highes bidder on E-bay... the mounts are dirt cheap though.
The 73 and up ones I believe are dirt cheap, and the mounts are also.

Re: 73 crossmember in a 69. Motor mounts?

They looked the same, I just wasn't sure. The 72 sets I have are for my retirement! The two reasons i am using the 73 crossmember is the mounts and suspension parts cost being cheaper, plus I think the oil pan can be dropped easier.
Thanks,
Longhorn man, after this one is done i will have a few questions about my 72 bb longhorn.

Re: 73 crossmember in a 69. Motor mounts?

If You Are Using 73 Up Crossmember, By All Means Use A 73 On Up Towers & Motor Mounts. They Will Work Fine, Without Any Height Issuses. 73 On Up Motor Towers Are Only Too Tall When You Try To Crossbreed Them With 67-72 Crossmembers. I Have Put A 75 Frontend Under A 71 & A 85 Crossmember Under A 69, Both With Big Blocks. John
