Well got my new motor home, it's a 489 BBC with these specs.

4-bolt mains, studded
Eagle crank
TCI Rattler
Eagle H-beam rods
SRP forged pistons
Comp Cams 308R solid roller
Comp lifters
Comp High Tech push rods
Edelbrock Rec Port RPM heads
Comp Pro Mag rockers
Comp stud girdle
Edelbrock Vic jr. intake
Mighty Demon 750
Hooker Super Comp 2" headers
ARP top to bottom
Crane dist, and High 6R, with timing retard
NOS Cheater system

We made some dyno pulls and ended up with 636.5hp at 6250rpm, and 617.6flbs. at 4750rpm. It avg. 585.12flb and 586.92hp from 4250-6500rpm. This was done with a 750 carb, heads and intake unported NO Nitrous all motor. I'm going to run it with this combo, thinking it will run 11's on motor shifting at 6500. With a 850 carb and a small amount of porting to the heads and intake, thinking that it would make 670hp easy.

This was made on a stingy dyno, they like it that way so that their motors will always make what they claim, Ron the dyno guy with 25 years in the buisness, is old school and likes to play it safe, could have made 650 with more timing, leaner, and few more revs.

would have been nice to try a 850, but a guy borrowed it and never made it back in time for my session, oh well not sure if $600 would have been worth 10hp to upgrade my carb, I allways have a 250 shot of nitrous to fall back on.

That is aslick looking GMC, even without your thumpin big block. What's the badges under the front side marker lights? Are those corevette badges?
What were you running before this engine... or now...or what ever.

They are 396 badges from a Camaro, I was running a 40 over 396, ported, solid roller, 10.1:1 etc. My best with it ( no track tuning except tire press) was a 12.94 @ 102.6mph.

I would think you would do much better than 10 more Horse with an 850 carb, even on BG sight they recomend at least an 850 with that many cubes. Just seems to small with the cubes and the breathing it will do.

I'll eventually go with a 850, just not in the budget right now, still have my tranny to do. I guessed 10hp, would likley be more but I like to be real conservative on my guesses. On the air monitor my 750 flowed 867cfm. I'll likely run it at the track with both carbs and see how they compare. But ya I was really dissapointed that their 850 wasn't there, they didn't even know it was gone till it was time to try it.

It's bored .30 over and stroked, same as yours, but not .40 over.

Has the carb been modified to flow those numbers? I know that the Mighty demons flow more than what they are rated but that much?? I am running the same carb on my 427 small block and handles it very well.

Mine is actually .60 over. I am running a modified 850 Dp carb. I hope to get close to 600 hp. Im ot running a roller cam though. Just a 306S comp cam. What lift does that roller have??

Oops your right, .60 over for a 496, should have remembered that, it was what I was going to build but got a good deal on a rotating assembly. My cam is a .652 lift, 262 duration at .050.

Nope that's out of the box, even the jets, I have to go one bigger on all 4 for where I race.

Downleg, one thing they did mention also is that they figured that the 750 would be more responsive and have better street manners.
