fuel pump oil problem

I keep blowing the oil pressure valve in my fuel pumps. I get about 1500miles out of a pump has anyone every had this trouble??

Yeah mechanical fuel pump has a relief valve in it. With a small hole like a water pump. So if theres too much pressure it wont break the pump. I think

Can you explain / describe this in more detail?
What is the symptoms you are having?
Where is this part located?
What year/make/model of engine are you dealing with?
Stock original, stock replacement, or aftermarket parts?


Personally, I have never heard of this.

I had this problem with the edelbrock fuel pumps. I now havean electric pump and no problems.

had the problem with a stock pump first then edelbrock, then holley, mechanical fuel pump on my 327. I have 2 large breathers that I've checked every time this happens. I run around 85psi cold 55-60 warm never leaks anywhere else. I think I'm going to have to go electric but the more I look into it the more fuel cell guy and new lines and filters and the different pump with or without regulators all gets overwhelming.

Fuel pumps don't have oil pressure valves. Oiled by what comes by fuel pump rod and splash from return hole. What you see coming out vent hole is gas and oil. The pump diaphram is leaking on the up side. Have no idea why it keeps doing this other then maybe pulling a lot of junk out of tank.

humm?? never leaks any gas no smell or rainbow no fuel pressure loss. and yes a better word would be pressure relief vent not valve.

Sounds like your crankcase does not have enough vents. PCV working?

I can see why a PCV would be better than breathers since it creates a slight negative pressure within the crankcase. You may have excessive ring blowby, causing higher than normal crankcase pressure. I just can't imagine oil venting at the fuel pump unless the breathers are clogged with oil and crud.
