Need help with front end ???????
I have a 68 that somebody in cali. put a 71-72 front end in it for the power disc setup. my questions are can i put in a 67-68 back in and still put power steering in it. Does some body sell a proportioning valve for a drum-drum setup. or do i even need a prop valve to run a power disc-disc setup. Will i need a special pitman arm for the p,s, setup. The problem is it has five lug front end and six lug rear. I would like to keep it close to original and still have safety. thanks Lou.

Re: Need help with front end ???????
You should be able to unbolt the 71-72 front end and bolt a 63-70 drum brake front end right back on. You can use powersteering box too. Some of the 67 model trucks didn't have the frame dimple for the power steering box, but your 68 should have it.
Factory drum trucks used a splitter junction that looks similar to a proportioning valve, mounted below the master cylinder. They should be fre for the asking in the parts board. Most guys, myself included just throw them away when swapping to discs. Respectfully, I'd recomend a pair of 6 lug front brake rotors. That way, you can run stock looking 6 lug wheels, but still keep the disc brakes and not have to change any front end stuff other than the rotors themselves. You'd be the only one who knew your truck had disc brakes, and it will sure stop better than the drums would.

Re: Need help with front end ???????
you can get 6 lug rotors. TX Firefighter has a set for sale. Or Mcnaughy's or we think--has not been tested --88 3/4 ton LD 6 lug rotors. I run 72 spindles and 6 lug rotors on my 67. I was a hair late on my post but agree with TX Firefighter.
