Found a Chevy I6 250, To Buy or not?
LIke the title says, I just found a 68 Chevy 250 I 6 engien from a Chevy II that the guy wants $50.00 for.
Ive got a 69 SWB with a I6 in it but dont know what engine it actually is. Would this engien swap in? Did it ever come with this engine in the 69 truck? Thomas

Hey Thomas!
I just found out the other day how to identify which inline 6 you have. Look at the pushrod covers. The tall ones (like 6") are for the 292, and the short ones are for the 250. Also, the fuel pump and distributor appear to be in different locations for the 292 and 250. I just found out this weekend that I actually have the 292 (I thought I had the 250). The 250 was available from the factory for these trucks, so as far as I know it should just swap in. What condition is the motor in? |

$50 is a very fair price. I paid $250 for one of mine (had a reworked head - 10:1 compression) and was recently freshened up. I just sold it with a spare engine, 4spd tranny and a bunch of parts for less than $400

Cell, the engine mounts between the 250 & 292 are in different places. That's why the fuel pump and stuff are in different places. They will both drop right in with the correct engine mounts.
