Attaching door panels?
I was wondering what everyone uses to hold their door panels to their doors on the earlier trucks with the flat door panels? I have a 72 that I have built custom flat door panels for, and will be holding the bottom on with 4 chrome screws, but I'm not sure what to do on the top? The factory armrests anchor them I know, but I'm not sure if I'll be using the stock 67-71 style or something custom. I've seen that top chrome trim, but am not sure how it attaches, how thick of material fits in it, or if it actually holds anything. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Attaching door panels?
That chrome trim is what holds the top to the door. I know the PO of my olf GMC had made some very ugly door panels and wa able to stuff quite a bit up into that chrome channel

Re: Attaching door panels?
My PO was the opposite, instead of opening the channel to make the
panel fit up in there, he cut 1/2" off the bottom. Now I need new panels........

Re: Attaching door panels?
They just started making reproductions of the chrome strips. LMC has them. I'm not sure it other vendors have them so you might check with your vendor of choice.

Re: Attaching door panels?
I'll have to check around and see who sells those chrome strips, as I like them way better than the painted ones. How do they attach to the door?

Re: Attaching door panels?
There are maybe 4 screws that attach the strips that you don't see when when the panel is installed.

Re: Attaching door panels?
Awesome! Thanks Yukon Jack, I'll have to pick up a pair of those chrome strips and finish my door panel construction. Still figuring what to use for an arm rest.
