Help getting no where on Paint color!

Help I cant seem to find the correct answer for the paint on my GMC jimmy. I posted recently and was given some good advice and ppg commercial color chart . However I can't get a strait answer from any of the paint suppliers around here.
My truck is a 1972 GMC Jimmy Vin#tke182f513182 . On the glovebox I have an option code of- 151410- next to paint color -medium red-. The original color on thetruck is red with a hint of orange I've seen some post say its a (stop sighn red) I assumed it could be the same color as PPG 70704 red but all the 'expert paint stores' around here are unsure and seem totally lost. I can always take off a part and get the color scanned but I would rather know what I've got. This truck is extemely original with original paint so I only want to do this one time. Any thoughts or other paint options ?

Re: Help getting no where on Paint color!

The PPG code for the 70704 is 514 "Red". I think you have it right. It is red with a hint of orange. Also your option code reads 1(514)10.

You can go to a PPG paint dealer and they should be willing to spray a sample card for you for no charge or at worst for a few bucks. It's the least they can do for the price of the paint!

Don't go by the colors you find on the internet... the computer renditions are way off from the actual color.
