Steering Column Issues
I have some trouble with my steering column, It has a little shake to it. I got the cab bare and may not have all of the appropriate mounts. The column isnt going anywhere, just shakes about a quarter inch in either direction.
If any of you could shed some knowledge as to what i may need, or need to do that would be great. If i need to buy the parts, where can i get them? I have LMC's catalog but it doesnt show any information on the under the dash mounts. I guess most people dont need them, since they normally start with a complete cab. If anyone could post pictures of how their column is mounted that may be a huge help!! Thanks in advance!!! |

Re: Steering Column Issues
Are you talking the wnole column will move around a little... or are you meaning the wheel and internal shaft moves, but the column its self stays put?
If it is the former, then I'd look on the outside firewall, there should be a flamp that goes around the column that secures it to a tad. If the latter, probably bearings. |

Re: Steering Column Issues
The whole column moves. I wish i could look on the firewall, but i dont know if i have the part, i recieved a bare cab. i have a ring that goes near the firewall, but that isnt tight enough diameter to tighten up the column.
I just bought another column and when i put this one in, i would like it to be in correctly, so if anyone has any ideas, i would appreciate it |

Re: Steering Column Issues
Also up under the dash behind the column support plate there is a clamp with 2 bolts that holds the column under the dash. it is located behind the plate pictured

Solver...very good pics.
Esp with a bare cab, I'll bet it is that ring on the outside. |

Re: Steering Column Issues
i believe it is the ring on the outside, i dont have the truck here, its at the garage, but i will look tomorrow. I just need to find a new one, i am going through my catalogs now and cannot find anything. I know there isnt much left on a C10 in any of the junk yards near me, and that is if i can find one that even has one, so do you guys know anywhere else i may be able to look for a part like this?
any frequent users sell stuff off of their parts trucks or anything? |

Re: Steering Column Issues
Let me know which you need,I am in the process of parting out a 72 and I am sure I have the outside parts and most likely the inside also.
